Where to Start with Breathwork (Without Getting Overwhelmed)
If you're new to breathwork and don’t know where to begin - start here. Breathwork doesn’t have to be complicated or full of jargon about quantum portals (don’t worry, we’ll get to that later).
One of my favorite introductions to breathwork is from Lucas Rockwood - my first breathwork teacher and still one of the best. He simplifies everything. No fluff, no mystical fog machines. Just clear, practical breathing techniques you can use right away to shift your state - whether you want to calm down, energize, or find balance.
His TED Talk "Change Your Breath, Change Your Life" introduces three easy breath types:
Water Breath – for calm, balance, and focus (great for midday or anytime)
Whiskey Breath – for deep relaxation and sleep
Coffee Breath – for energy and alertness
He breaks it down beautifully and explains what’s actually happening in your body - how CO₂ and oxygen work together, how your nervous system responds, and why breath is a kind of inner chemistry set you can learn to use.

And for those who want a little more structure, he offers a free downloadable guide on his website. It’s the perfect safe place to start. No overwhelm, no chanting required. (I’m plenty woo enough for both of us.)
Start there. You’ll be amazed what your breath can do.
